Spring 2025 - Love Your Neighbour

Our spring focus this year is on Families and Children, specifically those who are finding life hard.

On Sunday 9th March in all our services, you’ll be able to find out more, but please do read on .

Belfrey Safe Families

We launched our new Safe Families project last year with the purpose of linking up volunteers with families in York that are going through a tough time, to provide support and friendship.

Mandy Smith our Children and Families Outreach Worker has great connections with schools in York, and all that’s stopping us from supporting more families is the need for more volunteers.

Could you pray boldly for two new volunteers each month to come forward?  Or is meeting a parent to have a cup of coffee and chat, providing a listening ear to families in York something you think you could do?

We’re really pleased to be partnering with for this, a national charity that works with local churches to provide hope, belonging and support for children and families. You can find out more about Belfrey Safe Families here or Safe Families UK for the national charity website.

Bundles of Joy

Bundles of Joy is a York charity which gives pre-loved baby items to families who are in need of some extra support providing clothes and other baby items for their children up to age 2.

On Sunday 9th March, we’re showing our love to those less fortunate in York by gifting to parents/carers of under-twos.

Could you bring in something(s) from this list either as an individual or as a Belfrey Group?

  • Clothes for 12-18 or 18-24 month boys and girls (new or pre-loved)

  • Baby bottles and muslins

  • Toiletries for new parents/carers

  • Baby toiletries including wipes

  • Baby baths and moses baskets

Please bring them to any of the services on 9th March in a pretty bag-for-life which will be passed to the families, and we’ll pass them onto Bundles of Joy.

Bundles of Joy make up the bundles to go out every Wednesday at Living Word Church at 189 Huntingdon Road.

Could you pray for volunteers on a one-off or regular basis help for a couple of hours on a Wednesday morning? Or is this something you’d like to do? Or could you offer to wash and iron clothes occasionally too?

Please pray that the items requested by families will be donated, and that each family will know they are loved.

Could you pray for more pre-loved baby items to be donated, especially larger items such as beds, moses baskets etc? Or do you have any baby items you no longer need?

Give money or small items

Bundles of Joy is always happy to receive financial donations too, as some items such as moses baskets and cot mattresses need to be bought new.  They are also always happy to receive donations of toiletries and nappies too.
