Q2 2024 - Love Your Neighbour
This quarter we’re focussing on families, specifically those who are finding life hard and we’re doing this in two ways:
Belfrey Safe Families
We launched our new Safe Families project on Sunday 21st April, with the purpose of linking up volunteers with families in York that are going through a tough time, to provide support and friendship. We’re really pleased to be partnering with Safe Families UK for this, a national charity that works with local churches to provide hope, belonging and support for children and families. You can find out more about Belfrey Safe Families here.
PRAY
Please pray for people to volunteer with Belfrey Safe Families, to become a Family Friend, a Family Friend with at Home Care or a resource partner.
Please pray ahead for the families that we will be working with and the schools that will be referring them to us.
GIVE
Would you like to give some of your time by becoming a Belfrey Safe Families volunteer? If you’d like to know more, or get involved, please contact mandy.smith@belfrey.org
Bundles of Joy
Bundles of Joy is a York charity which gives pre-loved baby items to families who are in need of some extra support providing clothes and other baby items for their children up to age 2.
PRAY
Please pray for more volunteers, on a regular or one-off basis to help sort clothes, and put together bundles.
Please pray that the items requested by families will be donated, and that each family will know they are loved.
GIVE
Pre-loved baby items
Do you have any of the following which you no longer need:
Baby clothes up to 24 months
Cots, cot bed, moses baskets
Buggies, prams
Baby baths
All they ask is that they are of a quality which you would be happy to receive if these items were gifted to you.
If you can, please email: bundlesofjoy@thebesominyork.co.uk.
Make a Bundles of Joy hamper
Can you or your Belfrey Group like to make a Bundles of Joy hamper? If so, they can provide you with the details and needs of a recipient so you can know exactly who you are helping, and we can arrange for you to deliver it directly to them too.
If you can, please email: bundlesofjoy@thebesominyork.co.uk.
Give money or small items
Bundles of Joy is always happy to receive financial donations too, as some items such as moses baskets and cot mattresses need to be bought new. They are also always happy to receive donations of toiletries and nappies too.
Give time
Bundles of Joy make up the bundles to go out every Wednesday at Living Word Church at 189 Huntingdon Road. They’d love you to come and help once or more regularly, or to offer to wash and iron clothes too.
