Let's Cook meets weekly and supports people in learning how to cook healthy meals using a slow cooker, as well as developing other life skills. The people we work with mostly have had or are going through difficult circumstances in their lives. We prepare the food, have a discussion time and then eat together as a group. Attendees can then also take home the rest of the food they have cooked.
Our mission is to share the good news and love of Jesus within the group, through cooking and eating a meal together. Our aim is that this results in our clients having a sense of well being and feeling part of a family who cares about them. Our clients are referred to us from a local charity Restore and occasionally by support workers from City of York Council or other agencies.
Let’s Cook runs as a 12 week course.
How can you support the ministry of Let’s Cook?
To give through prayer:
We’d love you to pray for Let's Cook. Prayer for many people to be helped to learn valuable life skills, and for people to come to faith through our work, would be much appreciated.
To give financially:
Did you know it costs approximately £30 each week to provide the food which attendees cook and then take home with them?
If you would like to financially support the cost of running Let's Cook for a full or partial session, you can do so by donating here.
To give your time and skills:
You can be part of the Let’s Cook team as a volunteer. Email mick.corringham@belfrey.org to learn more about getting involved.
