Mission Partner: Andy and Rose Roberts

Andy grew up in The Belfrey and got his first taste for mission during a short-term trip to Croatia with the youth group in 2001. This prompted him to take a gap year where he visited Brazil for the first time in 2004. God worked tremendously during this time and led him to return to Brazil as a 'full time' missionary after graduating from Newcastle University in 2007. He married his long-term Brazilian girlfriend, Rose, in 2009 at St Michael le Belfrey in York and they both then returned to Olinda, NE Brazil as CMS (Church Mission Society) Mission Partners where they were working with children at risk. In 2012 they felt God leading them to begin a new work amongst the young girls in the city who had been forced into prostitution or who had suffered abuse from their families. ReVive International was founded as a charity in the UK and Brazil which helps rescue these young girls, restore their lives and renew their hope for the future.

In 2021, Andy took up a new post as Director of Mission with the Church Mission Society which meant he and Rose and their two daughters, Sofia and Julia moved to Abingdon near Oxford. He has responsibility for all the mission work that CMS does which, at the moment, involves moving towards supporting more local folk in cross-cultural mission, alongside those sent out from the UK. He liaises with strategic partners and sister organisations (CMS Africa and AsiaCMS) as well as various provinces and bishops and this involves quite a lot of travelling. Rose works as a teaching Assistant in the local primary school, a job which she enjoys but finds challenging at times.
