Parish Assistants

Parish Assistants are people serving on the Staff Team on a voluntary basis for 2-3 days per week.

The aim of our Parish Assistant scheme is to give people the opportunity to serve God in a specific area of the life of our church for a set period of time (our PAs work with us from the beginning of September through to the end of July).

PAs work in a number of areas of the life of the church including music and worship, students, youth and children, family and relationship, technical, G2 congregation, world mission, visitor hospitality and more.

This isn't a way of getting free workers, nor is it primarily a training scheme: it’s an opportunity to serve God is a sacrificial way and to get experience of working for a thriving church.

We offer accommodation in shared houses for those who need it and over the years we have attracted people from all walks of life; school-leavers, graduates, people recovering from long term illness, back-to-work mums, early retired people and very retired people!

Most of our PAs stay for one PA year only, after which they move on to get paid work in the ministry area in which they have been working with us. Some stay on for more than a year with us and the roles develop into other voluntary jobs with the church.

Our scheme is normally advertised on the website from the end of February and the application process is completed by the end of May.
