Giving money
St Michael’s is generously funded by its members. We can only continue ‘Serving God’s Transformation of the North’ with your financial help.
There are many ways to give money to St Michael’s. For additional information on any of the topics below please contact Paul Millard at the Parish Centre 01904 624190, finance@belfrey.org
Regular Giving
The most efficient way to give is directly to the church bank account by:
- setting up a standing order with your bank
- giving through your employer's Give As You Earn Scheme – check with your employer's HR department
- setting up a standing order through a charity agency – CAF or Stewardship
One-Off Gifts
If you are attending church on Sunday you can put cash, charity voucher or cheque (payable to St Michael le Belfrey PCC) into the offering bag.
During office hours you can either come into the Parish Centre and give a donation by cash, cheque or debit card or give us a call to give by card.
Tax-Efficient Giving
If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) then you can make donations tax efficiently. This means by completing a Gift Aid Declaration you will allow us to claim an additional 25p for every £1 you give.
Donate by Text
You can now donate to St Michael's by text! Text to 70070 and use the code SMLB01 then enter an amount chosen from the following: £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10.
Acts 435
is a simple, contemporary and Christian way to give to local people in need. It was launched by the Archbishop of York in 2010, inspired by Acts 4 v.35 (“then they would give the money to each as any had need”), and now operates nationwide. People known through the church who may need specific practical help – such as kitchen equipment, school uniforms, emergency travel or help with heating costs – can apply through the church for gifts of up to £100. Applications are checked and posted on-line by “advocates” in the church community, and donors respond with on-line donations via the church. Roger and Rosie Holmes are the advocates in St Mike’s, and if you know of anyone who could benefit from this help, please contact them at randrholmes@btinternet.com or by calling 01904 492438. If you would like to view more details about the charity and/or consider becoming a donor, please take a look at the website here.
Legacies
You may also like to consider making a donation to St Michael’s in your will. Please ask your solicitor when you make or change your will, or ask us for more information.
Share Gifts
You can also donate gifts of company shares to St Michael's (this entitles you to tax relief). A website to help you do this is Sharegift.
Self Assessment Tax Rebates
If you are required to complete a self-assessment tax return you can opt to give any tax refund due to St Michael's by entering our specific code (PAH19AG) onto your return in the appropriate box. N.B. This Scheme will not be available from 6 April 2012.
